Councillor’s Corner 18/19 No 1 - Local Plan Consultation

Pitmen supporter and HTFCSA committee member Paul Woodhead is a Cannock Chase District Councillor for Hednesford. You will see him around the ground most match days, usually as Pitman Pete and in the Strikers Bar after the game where you can talk to him about any matters or issues of concern.

In these articles I want to bring the role of the councillor alive to you and ensure I am accountable to you as the elected representative for the ward in which the football club resides. I will highlight some of the things I get involved with and the decisions the council makes on your behalf. I will be available after most home games for a general conversation and we can arrange a private discussion should that be appropriate. Alternatively you can contact me by phone on 07930 120077 or by email paul.woodhead@greenparty.org.uk

Welcome back to Keys Park for the start of a new season with many new faces on the pitch. I am looking forward with quiet optimism to the months ahead. #UTP

A busy time in council over the close season has given us a really important consultation which needs the comments of the community. Planning Policy. Without it being written to reflect what we want as a community the desires and designs will be shaped by the developers. Councillors making planning control decisions must make them in line with the policy agreed and the Local Plan, as well as national guidance.

Cannock Chase Council is asking local people to get involved with future development decisions and have their say in a consultation on a new local plan.

The Local Plan covers at least a fifteen year period and determines what sort of development is needed for the future, for example; homes, businesses and shops, and how much development is needed and where it should go.  It also sets a clear policy for protecting and improving the local environment and delivering local infrastructure.

The Council is keen to hear views on the big issues which a new local plan should be dealing with.

To me this consultation is probably the most important document to influence the building of houses, designation of employment land and conserving our green belt.

You have until the 28th August to comment, so don’t delay https://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/council/news/articles/get-involved-future-development-decisions-district-0
