Councillor’s Corner 18/19 No 4 - Swift Cards

Pitmen supporter and HTFCSA committee member Paul Woodhead is a Cannock Chase District Councillor for Hednesford. You will see him around the ground most match days, usually as Pitman Pete and in the Strikers Bar after the game where you can talk to him about any matters or issues of concern.

In these articles I want to bring the role of the councillor alive to you and ensure I am accountable to you as the elected representative for the ward in which the football club resides. I will highlight some of the things I get involved with and the decisions the council makes on your behalf. I will be available after most home games for a general conversation and we can arrange a private discussion should that be appropriate. Alternatively you can contact me by phone on 07930 120077 or by email paul.woodhead@greenparty.org.uk

Cannock Chase Council has approved the introduction the Swift smart card travel scheme on bus services in the Cannock Chase District, these can already be used on rail services along the Chase Line to Birmingham.

Swift is the largest smart card scheme in the UK (outside of London) and evidence indicates that the introduction of the Swift smart travel cards on bus services will encourage the use of services both in frequency and in patronage. The Council will fund the installation of the Swift card readers in key locations around the District.  Arriva and National Express West Midlands buses are already equipped to accept Swift cards.

Residents will be able to purchase one and four-week season tickets for Swift bus services through the website myswiftcard.com

They will also be able to purchase Swift pay-as-you-go (PAYG) credit which can be used on these services.

After purchasing through the website, customers can transfer their digital ticket onto their Swift card using an Android phone.  If a customer does not have access to an Android phone they can transfer it using the Swift card reader.

Swift card readers are proposed to be installed in the following key locations; Cannock Bus Station, Hednesford Victoria Street bus stands, Rugeley Bus Station and Civic Centre, Cannock.
