Last weekend local residents join Cannock Chase Green Party volunteers to re-paint a local children’s play area in Rawnsley to bring it back to life for everyone to enjoy.
The children’s play area on St Thomas Drive, Rawnsley benefitted from a lick of paint and a few hours hardwork by ten volunteers. The tired and dreary play equipment was cleaned and prepared in February and the weekend saw the work party bring a bright smile back to the area.
Local Green Party Campaigner Andrea Muckley led the initiative responding to concerns that the play equipment had been neglected for many years and with Council’s struggling for funds took on the project. Using funds from the Community Fund generated from the Bulb energy referral scheme promoted by the local Green Party supported by donations from Brewers Decorator Centre and Community Repaint gathered the supplies and expertise to complete the project at the weekend.
Andrea commented:
“I bring my daughter to this play park and when residents approached me to talk about how we can brighten up the area I knew we could do this together. It just takes some imagination, time and conversations to make these kind of projects to happen. I glad I could help make this happen, it is so much better now. We will now look at how we can get a bench back in the park. Thank you to everyone who helped.”
