Green Wave Washes over Cannock Chase

As the drama unfolded as votes were counted today a clear change of approach has been demanded by the people of Cannock Chase. Three Green wins was accompanied by a significant surge in votes for a positive message of hope and change to address the climate emergency and engagement with the community.

Great news for the Ward of Hednesford South which returned Stuart Crabtree following his by-election win in 2017 replacing a Conservative Party Councillor who was kicked off the Council following non-attendance. On increasing his vote share to 61% Cllr Crabtree commented

"I am honoured beyond words that you returned me as your Councillor for the next four years. Thank you for your ongoing trust, support and faith to know we will continuing working hard for every person in Hednesford, every day of the year. We have lots of work ahead of us and a larger group of dedicated community servants to work on the issues which improve our town together."

Following the narrow victory for the comunities of Rawnsley, Cannock Wood, Prospect Village and Hazel Slade for Councillor Claire Wilkinson last year, the year round hard work was rewarded with a significant step change and vote share moving to 56%. Reflecting on the outcome Councillor Andrea Muckley

"I am humbled and thrilled to have been elected as a Councillor for Rawnsley Ward. I have already started casework for people within the community and am looking forward to helping you all in any way I can. I would like to thank everyone for showing such trust in me and Claire to make our villages the best they can be."

Striking out in to a new part of Hednesford building on three years of consistent engagement and hard work the community of Hednesford North asked Mandy Dunnett to represent them and divert away form the static inaction of the Labour Party. A pleasantly stunned Cllr Dunnett said

"Writing this some days after the election and I am still in a state of honoured shock that you would select me to represent you. The words ‘Thank you’ seem so small to express my appreciation to take on this responsibility for our community. With your help, every day will be pleasure to serve and engage to deliver on the things you have told me are important to you"

This brings the Green Group up to FIVE councillors with Labour dropping down to 18 the Conservatives now with 15, the Liberal Democrats getting back to two and the remaining independent making up the numbers. This means no group has overall control which gives the opportunity to usher in a new era cooperation and consensus.
